Things formed lately
From sadly long ago and vividly
Remembered brightly;
So tender in their handling
And deposition ordered by
Their delicate condition lightly.
Full sensors on detecting
Unwarranted attachments and
Filters well armed; though
There’s no way that any veering
Elements are going to be re-routed
And permitted to spoil this flow.
Foreign entertainment always
Amazing when collected from
The rooms of its hotel;
Emblazoned across the best
Display so proudly and accessed
More kindly as well.
Vagrant and unsightly people
Will not be allowed to wander from
Their crack alley doorways,
And the ladies in their windows
Will not be rewarded with rocks
To enable them to break out today.
Streets bridged and strewn with stone
Between waters discordant and still,
And able to carry anything hired;
Energised by the constant tick-tock
Of loosened feet upon the busy broadways
Above and about and forever tired.
Foods available for consumption left
To dry out in the arid autumn swell
Until time to fly home empty stomachs;
Landing somewhere the pilot assumed
Would suffice, but let us not forget
That we all knew we would break.
