If I did not want
To ever look back,
I should forever
Have ever looked on.
I should have stayed
Where I was,
With whom I was with,
Doing the very same business.
As I thought that all
I could ever become
Would be better at
Least than I’d totalled,
So I played
All the games
That were offered to me,
And showered upon my old colleagues.
But I found by the start
Of the very last day
The resolve
To remember it all,
And I vowed
To my God
That I’d never forget
Writing letters I could not address.
And I’ve lived long enough
To be proud of myself,
And I know
My decisions were right,
And it’s good that I’ve saved
All the time here today,
Well away from the rain,
And the indelible fools who remained.
