BREATHING REGULATIONS.

You held my breath for years,
Inhaling, without fear,
The noises that arose
From deep within my throat,
Then closed my mouth once you
Had caught what you could use.

You held my face for days,
Then let it slip away,
And fall down from the bed,
Detached from any head,
And land upon the floor
Between the frame and door.

You held my name beyond
Your given Christian one,
Until you felt divorced
From every other course,
Then threw it into court
With counterfeit reports.

You held me to the light
Of chivalries insight,
And found you wanted more
Than you had once before.
You took my breath away,
And all it had to say.
