If you walk straight forward on,
You can see the life ahead;
All the people you could meet,
And every place you could be dead,
And that’s alright if you’re that way,
And organize more than today.
But Charlie couldn’t do that,
So he turned around on all,
Started walking backwards,
Frequently would fall.
Now Charlie weren’t a bad man,
Hard times he’d never known,
He just used to watch the news a lot,
And swallow what was shown,
And that’s alright if you’re that way,
But what’s to do if you hate today?
And Charlie learned to do that,
So he turned around on all,
Continued walking backwards,
Didn’t mind the frequent falls.
Now a woman she liked Charlie,
And moved in pretty fast,
But when she couldn’t take no more
He saw her in the past,
And that’s alright if you’re that way,
Charlie saw the erstwhile every day.
And Charlie went and done it,
Turning around on all,
Developed walking backwards,
Learned how not to fall.
