ALMS.

I threw my arms up to the air,
But they were unrequited there.
On bended knees implored the ground;
These too rejected as unsound.
I applied myself to keeping time,
But sunlight rose beyond my dial;
So I reversed before the gale,
And was applauded by the failed.

I left, appalled, without veneer,
Or vision left to keep me here,
And took to places far and wide;
For any sighting undenied
To underpin a great outline,
Or measure its blueprint to mine,
But ventures over weathered stone
Revealed as much as was at home.

I came back lost, but crystal clear,
And found my clarity revered;
Once more into ennobled hands
With all I’d learned from every land,
Which caught at last and kept me bound,
Occluded once, but twice around,
And rested me upon their earth
Regardless of my worth.
